The BEST Review on Berjaya Resort @ Tioman You'll ever Find!! (DAY 1)

Our tioman trip is really long and full of pictures and stories, which, I don’t think I can squeeze into one post, so it’ll be broken into a few mini stories lah… … So, here’s the first of our 4 + 1 days in Tioman… hehe..The Little Mini Honeymoon of The Horny Bassist and Moon.

We got up and got ready around 5am, cause I had arranged for a cabby to pick us up from our place to SBZ Airport at 6am. To our surprise, he arrived at 5.45 and waited patiently for us while we panic-ed (what’s the proper past tense of Panic?) His name is Steven, a recommended cabby from my brother David. Always punctual and charges decently. Here’s his contact in case you are ever in need of a good cabby. 016-2786660. Oh, and btw, he drives a waja, so it was a good comfy ride…

Arriving at SZB at 6.30, flight at 8, check in at 7, half an hour with nothing to do or see, we ventured around the now under renovation SZB airport and just chilled at Butlers.. hehe.. Ooh, and I found out that the coke machine works eventhough butlers is closed. Next time you go there, bring a cup! Hahaha…Free flow all the way!

Finally we checked in, had nasi lemak, and was finally allowed to go on board. We even managed to catch a few pics before boarding the plane. Not to shabby the plane, although the windows were quite dirty and unclear, so no on flight pictures to show you…
And Finally! Arriving at Tioman!Upon arrival, we had to wait some 15-20 meters from the plane for our luggage.. the luggage carrier had to drive 15-20 meters with our luggage to us, and even then, he still managed to drop a few bags.. hahaha.. great service in deed! Transparent to the max! haha
Don't you just love it when you can stand around near the plane right after touching down (no, not touching down there... aiya...)... Not worried that this will be the set for Final Destination 5, Death by Plane engine Blades.. haha..

We had to pay a RM5 nature preservation levy before they let us out the airport, which I guess isn’t too bad a thing to do lah… nature preservation does costs $$....
Waiting right outside was the Berjaya bus… two infact… The drive to Berjaya Resort was around 5-10 minutes, through Kampung Tekek (full of that Kampung Feel….) and full of great sceneries… Nature, Sea and all… in fact, two monkeys even showed up and had a little fight in the middle of the road for the amusement of all the passengers. (and by two monkeys I’m not referring to any of our Sekolah Menengah students…although I do believe most Sek Men Male students spank their monkeys.. hehe.. )
I was a little worried about what we’d do and our luggage considering we arrived sooooo early (ard 9.30 when we arrived at berjaya resort reception) and the check in time is 3pm… but after I checked in, they immediately gave us our room keys… nice! 418, nice number summore….they’ve got in house buggies which transport new guest to their rooms. Good service all the way.. we really felt well taken care of.

Once there, the order of the day, to unpack and make the room, homely… out comes clothes, towels, toiletries, on the tv, mess up the room a little… hehe… but here are some pics of the room. Nice, big, comfy, CLEAN, everything you’d expect for a RM400 a night room (but free for us, thanks to my bro, Dr. Raymond Tan)…
By the time we were pleased with our work and ready to rumble, it was still only 11am… sooo early… soooo happy… hahahaha….(hmmm at the rate I’m writing, maybe I should break it up to morning session posts, evening, night, etc.. haha)…
So, we ventured out, not to the beach yet, but to see whats available at Berjaya Resorts…
Bali Hai... We didn't try out this restaurant cause I felt that, Fine Dining..?? hmm.. no thanks... beach food... yes.. and the prices did seem a little steep... if I recall correctly, per person, about RM100++?Get this.. they've got a pool, a sunken pool bar, a kids pool, a jacuzzi pool, a baby pool, 4 pool tables, winnie the pool, poolar bears, pool pool hotta hey, interpool... (ahha.. sorry about the last few.. I couldn't resist...)Oh, and we got welcome drinks at the Matahari, so we went there, and feeling hungry (cause we had our bfast like 5 hours earlier), so we ordered some ‘light’ food…. Goodness… how wrong could we have been.. haha…

After makaning and walking pretty much to the end of the road, I checked out what activities they had to offer.. They boasted Banana boat, snorkeling, donkey rides, bicycle for rent, round island trip, waterfall trip, tennis, kayaking, and some other stuff…Unfortunately, the banana boat is currently on hold (duno why, maybe someone stepped on it.. haha..) and also the round island trip (due to bad weather)…

We decided to take up the Coral Island trip, which is snorkeling at 3 different locations (Coral Island, Marine Park & Renggis Island). 2pm was the start time till six. RM60 per person. We headed home, rest, get mentally prepared, and by 2pm, we were dressed and equipped and ready to rock!

Moon wasn’t too hot with the view of the corals, which also caught me by surprise… when I first looked down, gosh, it was really another world there… anyhow, she felt better to just stay on the boat and by my photographer.. hehe..

Feeding fish with bread reminds me so much of the fish therapy shop… they are always hungry and come by the hundreds.. haha…

A short story ensues… At Renggis Island, 3 other guests (Indian college mates, ladies) were extra adventurous and managed to get the captain of the boat to take them 1 circle around the island.. the island isn’t that big,.. you probably could circle the whole island on foot in 15 minutes.. but swimming is a very different story, and what more with currents & corals right below you (as in if you tried to stand, you’d be standing on the corals…)…so I followed as well lah.. Sometimes if you’re lucky, you get to see turtles, bigger fish, dolphins and even sharks!.. but this time around we weren’t that lucky lha.. the captain (hats off to him, swam the whole way without life jacket.. steady only) even went down to the sea floor and picked up a poisonous sea urchin to show us saying “yang ni, beracun, kalau sentuh, kena jumpa doctor…”… and there he was, displaying it on his hand… we were like… “beracun, sentuh, doctor… habis tu, kapten, you tengah pegang?? “… haha.. captain indeed.. he knows how to hold it without getting stung…
(This is not my original pic, but one from the web on Sea Urchins... )..
Then at 1 point near the strong currents, one of the ladies wasn’t doing so well, so me and captain took turns taking her through the strong currents.. (and for the rest of your horny buggers out there, no, we didn’t take turns on her with “strong currents”.. haha )

Finally, we made it 1 round without incident…. Tired but satisfied (much like having sex), we headed back and rested til dinner….

Dinner time wasn’t that eventful.. we were keen about their BBQ buffet… but disappointed… no prawns, lobsters, crabs, seafood?? It’s a beach resort… BBQ should have those items… disappointing… but I think that’s one of the biggest disappointments of the whole trip..so, its acceptable lah…

That night we didn’t do much (other than make love.…. Hahahaha…).. there isn’t much of a night life nor night activities (since we’re not into drinking) other than their games room, which is full most of the time…crowded… such a turn off…
